Greg’s first solo guitar album blends a pre-composed classical style with improvisational jazz on original interpretations of songs from The Great American Songbook, highlighting a fat, rich guitar sound, lilting lines, lush chords, an impeccable sense of time, and a truly unique compositional approach.
The album grew out of Greg’s DMA lecture-recital at the Eastman School of Music, “Arranging Topics for Solo Jazz Guitar: How to Write for the Guitar Instead of Just Playing What You Know,” presented March 22, 2013 in Howard Hanson Hall. It was nominated among the best DMA lectures of the year.
